Description
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is soliciting sealed bids for the Anacostia Light Rail Site Preparation contract. The project is located along a former railroad right-of-way from the vicinity of Pennsylvania Avenue SE (Station 359+50) to an existing railroad gate entrance to the Anacostia Naval Station (Station 503+75). This corridor is approximately 2.8 miles in length, with additional limited right-of-way available north of Pennsylvania Avenue available as a construction staging area. The project is located within the District of Columbia. The Base Contract work consists of four items: mobilization including project signs, groundbreaking and temporary construction facilities perimeter fencing; erosion and sediment control for work within the project limits; debris removal and disposal from the right-of-way; and clearing and grubbing for an approximate 25' to 40' width as defined in the Contract Drawings. The Option Portion work includes: rail removal from track and on-site disposal; cross tie removal from track and disposal; Type A-1 fence restoration; rail dock demolition; timber/asphalt pad demolition; ballast removal at selected locations and disposal; Class 2 excavation, disposal, and backfill; and Class 3 petroleum-contaminated material excavation, disposal, and backfill. Also, ballast removal from track is required at select locations. Estimated price range: $1.0 - $5.0 million. Contract duration: 300 calendar days. Pre-bid conference will be held at 9:00 a.m. on April 23, 2004 at the WMATA Jackson Graham Building, Meeting Room, 600 Fifth St., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20001. Site visit will be conducted immediately following the pre-bid conference. Bids must be received no later than 2:00 p.m. on May 5, 2004. Bid opening: May 5, 2004. Plans and specifications will be available on or about April 8, 2004 from the WMATA Plans Room, 900 Franklin Street, Washington, D.C., (202) 269-4575 (voice). Price of documents are as follows: specificiations - $25.00; half-size drawings - $30.00; and WMATA Construction Safety and Environmental Manual - $10.00.
