Description
The US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, Armament, Research, Development, Engineering Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources to develop and provide a solid state high power silicon switch and the accompanying optical control. This is estimated to be a two year effort in support of the EM Gun Technology Maturation and Demnstration Program, under ARDEC STO ARD-11. The switch must be capable of blocking 10.0 kV with a minimum action rating of 25 MA2 (half sine wave pulse width of 400 us) and a critical rate of current rise greater than 30 kA/us. The switch may be no larger that 150mm in diameter. Optical control for the switch must also be developed. Below is a summary of the target and threshold (minimum) values. THRESHOLD TARGET Blocking Voltage 9.0kV 10.0 kV Action Rating (400 us pw) 20 MA2s 25 MA2s Peek Current (400 us pw) 320 kA 350 kA Diameter 150 mm 150 mm Recovery Time 100 us 80 us Leakage 450 mA 250 mA Weight 50 oz. 35 oz. Gating Optical Optical Any interested parties for this solid state high power silicon switch effort must submit clear and concise information that will show a superior understanding of this technology. This can be demonstrated in the form of patents, publications, preliminary designs, detailed designs, and/or any existing test data. This information should be included with any submission. In addition, interested parties should include information regarding existing facilities, manufacturing and testing capabilities, and any quality processes curently in place. This information is to be provided via e-mail to ksage@pica.army.mil or pnickel@pica.army.mil, and received by 19 April 2004. Brochures may be mailed to US Army, TACOM ARDEC, AMSTA-AQ-APE-E, Bldg 10, ATTN: Kathy Sage, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. This market survey is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. It does not consitiute a Request for Proposal, and the Government will not reimburse the costs incurred by providing this information. See Numbered Note 25.
