- Sources Sought Announcement For LITS. This announcement is a request for information. The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is seeking information from sources that feel they are capable of providing off the shelf alternatives to existing training systems used to provide realistic small-arms battle training. Capability desired must provide quantum-leap in existing training systems and, allow Naval Special Warfare personnel to train in an environment free of corresponding hazards associated with ?live-fire? exercises and the environmental constraints imposed on existing ranges. On behalf of the Commander, Naval Special Warfare, USSOCOM is seeking new laser assisted technology that can be fielded on behalf of Special Operations Forces (SOF). Originator intends to initiate a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) to determine if improved capabilities exist, through a comparison with existing commercially available capabilities that will provide next generation realistic capability in an environment that provides a high level of safe and efficient training. All offeror?s products will be evaluated to determine the effectiveness, suitability and reliability for constant use in the intense and realistic training environment inherent to Navy Special Warfare and their rigid personnel training requirements and standards. All products must meet stringent requirements for size, weight, power and transportability. This announcement is NOT a Request for Proposals or Purchase. This is a Sources Sought and does not commit the Government to award a contract under the above listed terms, nor is the Government responsible to pay for samples or information received.
