Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) intends to issue a solicitation for the laboratory analyses of participants in the National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHANES). Single or multiple awards may result from this solicitation, with fixed-price contract(s). The period of performance is two years with the possibility of a 6-month extension. All laboratory data must be comparable throughout the survey with the same laboratory and methods used. The contractor shall perform laboratory analysis for one or more of the following erythrocyte protoporphyrin, iron, total iron binding capacity (TIBC), and biochemistry profile (BP). The contractor shall provide a modification of the method of Sassa et al for protoporphyrin testing. The iron and TIBC method shall be a comparable method similar to a modification of the automated AAII-25 colorimetric method, which is based on the procedures of Giovaniello et al. and of Ramsey. The list of analytes for the BP are albumin, ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase, BUN, calcium, chloride, cholesterol, creatinine, CK, GT, globulin, glucose, HCO3, iron, LDH, osmolality, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, total protein, total bilirubin, triglycerides, and uric acid. The CV should be less than 5% and the methods should be standardized against standard reference material. Test results and quality control results must be supplied in machine-readable format no later than three (3) weeks after receipt of serum specimens. The contractor must have at least 24 months continuous experience in conducting analysis of erythrocyte protoporphyrin, iron, total iron binding capacity (TIBC), and biochemistry profile (BP). Offerors must have a well-established quality assurance program and document that the method used is a calibrated system with at least two years of quality control data. Solicitation 2004-N-01199 will be available on or about April 12, 2004, and proposals due by May 14, 2004. Written requests for the solicitation documents may be sent to the above address, faxed to (412) 386-6429, or sent via e-mail to aku1@cdc.gov. No telephone requests will be accepted. Solicitation documents will also be available at www.eps.gov.
