Description
NASA/MSFC has a requirement for a Radio Frequency (RF) Microwave Amplifier with the following specification: Item 1. 1 Each. Radio Frequency (RF) microwave amplifier for electromagnetic compatibility radiated susceptibility testing, Amplifier Research model 250T8G18 or equivalent. Unit shall be a self-contained forced air cooled broadband traveling wave tube (TWT) microwave amplifier. Mismatch tolerance: must have output power foldback protection at reflected power exceeding 50 watts (minimum) to prevent tube damage and continue operating at a reduced output power level without ceasing operation. Must operate without damage or oscillation with any magnitude and phase of source and load impedance. Warranty must include a full 2-year tube warranty and full 3-year warranty on the remaining equipment. The unit must include a ?sleep? and/or ?autosleep? mode in which the traveling wave tube is turned off when the amplifier is in standby mode and is not needed to produce RF output, to extend tube life. These modes must allow the amplifier filaments to be turned off automatically when the unit has been left in standby mode and not in use for more than a pre-set time period (autosleep) or turned off remotely via user control (sleep). Unit must be capable of both continuous wave (CW) and pulsed operation at the minimum fundamental power level. The fundamental power, continuous wave, at output connector flange shall be: 300watts nominal, 250 watts minimum, linear at 1dB compression 130 watts minimum. Flatness at rated power shall be: plus/minus 5dB maximum. Frequency response shall be 7.5-18GHz instantaneous. Gain at maximum setting shall be 54dB minimum. Gain adjustment (continuous range) shall be 35dB minimum. Input impedance shall be 50 ohms, VSWR 2.0:1 maximum. Output impedance: 50 ohms, VSWR 2.5:1 typical. Modulation capability: must faithfully reproduce AM, FM, or pulse modulation appearing on the input signal. Amplifier shall have external video pulsing feature. Video pulse capability shall be: 0.05 microseconds minimum pulse width, 100 kiloHz maximum pulse rate (PRF), 30 nanoseconds maximum (10% to 90%) RF rise and fall, 300 nanosecond maximum from pulse input to RF 90% Delay, plus/minus 30 nanosecond (50% points of output pulse width compared to 50% point of input pulse width) pulse width distortion. Noise power density shall be: Minus 70dBm/Hz maximum, Minus 72dBm/Hz typical for pulse on, minus 140 dBm/Hz typical for pulse off. Harmonic distortion shall be: minus 5dBc maximum/minus 7dBc typical (<10GHz), minus 8dBc maximum/minus 12dBc typical (10GHz-12GHz), minus 20dBc maximum/minus 30dBc typical (>12GHz). Primary power shall be: 190-260VAC, 50/60Hz single phase, 2.5KVA maximum. The amplifier front panel display shall show forward and reflected output plus extensive system status information easily accessed via the front panel controls. Status indicators shall include power on, warm-up, standby, operate, faults, excess reflected power warning and remote. Standard features shall include a built-in IEEE-488 (GPIB) interface, 0dBm input, VSWR protection, gain control, external video pulsing, RF output sample port, plus monitoring of TWT helix current, cathode voltage, collector voltage, heater current, heater voltage, baseplate temperature and cabinet temperature. RF input connector shall be type N female. RF output connector shall be type WRD-750D24 waveguide flange. RF output sample port connector shall be type N female. GPIB connector shall be IEEE-488 female. Must have external interlock control input with DB-15 female connector. Video pulse input connector shall be BNC female. Cooling shall be forced air (self-contained fans). Must have a removable enclosure and be capable of 19" rack mounting. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. This solicitation is for "Small Business Set-Aside" Only. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than April 2, 2004. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any).
