Description
Sources Sought, advertised on 02/17/2004, for Preventative Maintenance Services, is amended to add the following to the original requirement: a JEOL USA, Inc. scanning microprobe-JXA-8900, additional spectrometer, high speed backscatter unit, beam stabilizer, four crystal spectrometer, noran detector, water recirculator, and HP workstation.. The period of performance will be for a base year and four option years. Contractor requirements remain unchanged. Contact Kathleen Markley at (303) 236-9325. Email address is kmarkley@usgs.gov. Concerns having the ability to furnish the services and supplies described herein are requested to give written notification, including the name and telephone number of a point of contact, to the procurement office above. The U.S. Geological Survey, CR, GD, Minerals Team, Denver, CO has a requirement for the maintenance service for a JEOL USA, Inc, scanning electron microscope-JSM-5800LV, catholdouminescence unit, Oxford EDS System, probe current detector and water chiller, for a base year and four option years. The contractor must have local, JEOL factory-trained service engineers with specified training for the 5800 scanning electron microscope, and immediate access to JEOL replacement parts. Based on the information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the supplies and services specified as a sole source from JEOL USA, Inc, Peabody Massachusetts and proposes to negotiate a contract with this company on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel they can furnish the required services and supplies or its functional equivalent (based on the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit, in writing, an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials which correspond to the required services and supplies stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. No solicitation document exists. Therefore, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement.
