- Description
- This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. Reference SSA-RFI-04-KF002 when responding to this announcement. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors capable of providing the support services necessary to assist in the implementation, installation and maintenance of firewalls, including both hardware and software, at the DDS and SSA sites throughout the country. SSA?s current firewalls consist of the following hardware platforms: IBM Model 43P; IBM Model H-50; IBM Model P-600; and, Sun Blade 100. The current version of Checkpoint software is Firewall-1 version 4.1. SSA plans to migrate to the following hardware platforms: Nokia Model 380; Nokia Model 530; and, Nokia Model 710. SSA also plans to migrate to Checkpoint Firewall NG software. The vendor must be able to provide support services for the implementation, configuration, installation and management of the firewall hardware and software at state-run Disability Determination Services sites (DDSs). Responsibilities will include: a) Work with SSA personnel for each Firewall architectural design; b) Interview personnel at the Firewall installation site (DDS) to determine the site?s unique architectural design and production requirements for firewall configuration prior to implementation; c)Assist in building the firewall for shipment to sites; d)Assist in the installation and setup from a remote management station located at headquarters in Baltimore; e) Assist with the ongoing management of firewalls, including evaluation of logs and alerts, recommendation of improvement of security policy, implementing changes to this policy across the network, etc.; f) Provide onsite support ? either additional setup or configuration support or post-installation troubleshooting and operation support; g) Provide sendmail, domain name service and ?C? programming support; h) Must be able to configure firewall components on multiple hardware platforms and multiple associated operating systems. Vendor shall have expert level experience and expertise in the following areas: 1) System integration engineering and security experience; 2) Experience working with routers and switches; 3) Knowledge of Nokia firewall hardware devices; 4) UNIX system; 5) administration and support experience including IBM?s AIX ver.3.2 to 5.2; 6) Experience with Checkpoint Firewall software version 4.1 or better; 7)Management of multiple Firewalls in a diverse networking environment; 8) C programming; 9) DNS version 9; 10) Sendmail versions 8.7 - 8.12; 11) Apache Web server support; 12) IBM Edge server; 13) SNA, and High Availability Cluster Processing a definite plus; 14) Must have in-depth practical hands-on TCP/IP networking knowledge and posses a good understanding of other networking protocols, such Novell and Microsoft. Vendors having the capability to meet the above requirements are invited to submit complete details. The responses must clearly state the ability to meet the above requirements. Interested parties must respond to this notice within 15 calendar days from date of this publication. Vendors should provide the names and contact information of customers. References may be checked. Vendors responding should indicate whether their services are available on the GSA Federal Supply Schedules. Pricing data may be submitted. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of the data received. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, this information will be used in SSA?s assessment of capable sources. No Faxed responses. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. No formal solicitation is being issued at this time.
