Description
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to procure on a competitive basis Sidewinder AIM-9M MK1 MOD 5 wing assemblies (FY04) with options (FY05 - FY08) for AIM-9M MK1 MOD 5 and MK1 MOD 2 Wing Assemblies and Containers. The Government intends to award a contract for the production of this component to the AIM-9M Missile on a firm fixed-price basis. The Sidewinder AIM-9M Missile is a state of the art air-to-air missile used by the USN, USAF and International forces on various fighter aircraft. The MK1 MOD 5 and MK1 MOD 2 Wing Assembly is approximately 2 feet long and 1 foot in height and consists of a machined, composition 2618 aluminum structural forging with aluminum honeycomb core and skin coated with a non-ablative thermal coating. The wing also contains mechanical dampers, rolleron and cager assemblies, which act to minimize missile roll during free flight. The Wing Assembly requirement has tooling and test equipment costs that must be incurred by a company that does not have the specific equipment. A First Article Test requirement is mandatory for hardware not previously qualified by the Navy. The technical data package (TDP) for the Wing Assembly and container is UNCLASSIFIED. Offerors must request a copy of the TDP from the Sidewinder Technical Office located at the Naval Air Warfare Center-Weapons Division (NAWC-WD), China Lake, California by contacting Ms. Carolyn Smith (commercial (760) 939-8488) or email carolyn.m.smith@navy.mil. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be posted on the NAVAIR homepage on or about 25 March 2004 and will close approximately 30 days after issuance. The RFP will only be made available via the NAVAIR homepage located at http://www.navair.navy.mil. Select ?Doing business with Us? and ?Open Solicitations?. All amendments will be posted at the same Internet website. Hard copies of the solicitation and amendments will not be mailed to contractors. After RFP release, vendors should regularly access the website to ensure that they have all amendments. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency. The government will not accept electronic proposals. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE OFFERORS: Registration in the DOD Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database will be a prerequisite for receiving an award. For more information on the CCR, refer to the CCR website at http://www.ccr.gov/index.cfm. The POC is Ms. Ruthann O?Connell, phone (301) 757-7048 or e-mail ruthann.oconnell@navy.mil.
