Description
THIS SOLICITATION WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD ON APRIL 1, 2004 Timberline Lodge Chimney Restoration - Offers are being sought for the restoration of three chimneys on the Timberline Lodge, located in the Mt. Hood National Forest, Timberline, Clackamas County, Oregon. Timberline Lodge was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corp and dedicated by President Roosevelt in 1937. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original design and construction is an important consideration when making repairs. The three chimneys to be restored are: Two ?fireplace room chimneys?, and the Head House Chimney. The two fireplace room chimneys are mirror images of each other. Due to the poor condition of the stonework above the flashing level, these two chimneys shall be reconstructed from the flashing level up; the Head House Chimney is one of the most important architectural features of the building. It is structural in that it is designed to support the ceiling and roof structure of the Head House. The Head House chimney shall be reconstructed from the roof level or sound masonry up. The work will consist of, though is not limited to, the construction of scaffolding; systematic removal of the stone veneer and documentation of the stonework placement; demolition of the brick chimneys; removal and storage of ornaments; construction of new chimneys; repair of wrought iron access door to Head House Chimney as well as other work as required by the specifications. All work shall be completed by August 27, 2004. The estmated price range for the project is between $250,000 and $500,000. There is a MANDATORY Preproposal Meeting/site visit scheduled for April 9, 2004, 1300, at Timberline Lodge. Proceed east from Portland, OR on US Highway 26 to Government Camp(approximately 50 miles from Portland). At the east end of Government Camp, turn left onto State Highway 173, Timberline Road, and follow the road 6 miles to Timberline Lodge. Prospective Offerors are required to attend this conference. This is the only preproposal meeting scheduled.
