- Description
- The Broadcasting Board of Governors/ International Broadcasting Bureau (BBG/IBB) intends to award a follow-on, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, non-competitive contract to Scientific Atlanta, Inc. (SA), 5030 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, GA 30044, for the manufacturing and installation of digital video broadcasting equipment to be used in continued development of the Agency's television broadcast systems worldwide. In accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), other than full and open competition, only one (1) responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the Agency's requirements, Scientific Atlanta's equipment is being procured pursuant to FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii). Over the past six years, the BBG has successfully utilized Scientific Atlanta, Inc.'s equipment that is now deployed throughout the BBG's Digital Video/Audio/Data Global Satellite Delivery Network. SA's equipment has proprietary interfaces between units and between systems, essential for IBB operation and maintenance requirements and incompatible with other Manufacturer's equipment. The following contract line items (CLINS) are included in the solicitation: (a) CLINS B.1.1 thru B.1.20: Scientific Atlanta PowerVu Plus Encoder and Encoder Spares; (b) CLINS B.1.21 thru B.1.46: Scientific Atlanta Receivers; (c ) CLINS B.1.47 thru B.1.82: Scientific Atlanta PowerVu Plus Systems; (d) CLINS B.1.83 thru B.1.113: Scientific Atlanta Originators; (e) CLINS B.1.114 thru B.1.132: Scientific Atlanta PowerVu Classics; (f) CLINS: B.1.133 - Standard Installation; and (g) CLINS B.1.134 thru B.1.155: Scientific Atlanta-Europe equipment. Delivery: FOB Destination. Term of Contract: Base year with four (4) additional one-year options to extend the contract term. Numbered Note 22.
