Description
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION: Navigation technologies, systems, and sensors applicable to Naval sea and air platforms as well as handheld devices. SPAWAR Systems Center San Diego (SSC) is interested in industry comments and product information on platform and technology options that will enhance the navigation and timing performance of GPS User Equipment. In addition, SSC is evaluating options to replace obsolete GPS User Equipment and even non-GPS options that can enhance/augment GPS during signal outages. Areas to consider should include, but not be limited to, adaptive antenna and antenna electronics technology, Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) anti-jam enhancements, ultra-coupled INS, and advanced GPS concepts. Other areas of interest include navigation technologies related to evolving programs such as FORCEnet, Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems (JPALS), and Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). Ideas currently being considered are novel anti-jam technologies, self-organized networks, geodetic navigation (e.g., gravimetric, magnetic, terrain), jam-resistant frequency allocations, and embedding navigation signals into existing transmission media. Any other ideas that can complement and/or enhance GPS now or within the next 5 years are open to consideration. Data received from this Request for Information (RFI) will be used to conduct an Analysis of Alternatives Study of available technology and systems. This study will help the Navy define the requirements of future GPS User Equipment and GPS integrations. Each respondent is asked to provide: 1) Company/agency name, business description, and POC information 2) Sponsor/Government customers and POC information (if applicable) 3) Product Name(s) 4) Product description(s) (to include the following): a. Physical and functional description of the item being offered (size, weight, power, external interfaces, etc.) b. Technical performance description of the item and relevant documentation (specifications, interface control documents, test reports, papers, etc.) 5) If possible, suggest how the item can be integrated into existing or planned Navy systems 6) Procurement cost estimate of item or technology 7) If not yet in production, provide the development status and the anticipated development schedule In order to get the maximum benefit from industry?s creativity, information considered proprietary should be suitably marked and will be protected by the Government as such. Information provided in response to this RFI will not be used to exclude anyone from responding to a Request for Proposal if an acquisition is warranted. All replies should be less than 10 pages and submitted no later than 45 days after posting Interested sources are requested to submit Information Statements electronically by 4:00 p.m. PST on 29 April 2004 to the POC e-mail address. For information regarding this sources sought, contact the POC, Ms. Oralee Martin, (619) 553-5347 or via e-mail at: oralee.martin@navy.mil. Acknowledgement of receipt will not be made. Disclaimer: Government RFI POCs may initiate follow-up discussions with selected respondents to obtain clarifying information. This request for information is not intended to award a contract on the basis of information submitted nor otherwise pay for information solicited.
