- This project includes renourishment of the Long Key and the Treasure Island segments of the Pinellas County Beach Erosion Control Project. The Treasure Island portion will be an option. On Long Key, approximately 250,000 cubic yards of sand will be placed on Upham Beach, which is located on the south side of Blind Pass. On Treasure Island, approximately 100,000 cubic yards of sand will be placed on Sunset Beach which is located about 1 mile north of Blind Pass. The berm will be constructed to an el evation of 6.0 mean low water (MLW). The width of the berm will vary for both segments. The beach slope will be constructed at one-foot vertical on 20-foot horizontal. The beach fill material will come from Pass-A-Grille Pass, a borrow area that has bee n previously used. It is located 3.5 nautical miles south of Upham Beach at the south end of Long Key. Oil-contaminated deposits may be present in the vicinity of the borrow source; therefore, as a precaution to potential exposure, a single containment b oom shall be placed around the dredge area. If contaminants should be found, a clean-up program will have to be initiated. Access is limited to the beach site. Upland access on Long Key will be provided at a park at Upham Beach. Upland access to Treasu re Island will be provided at street endings. Pipeline access will be accomplished by placing pipe along the beaches seaward of the Erosion Control Line/Mean High Water Line. Magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The perf ormance period will be 30 Calendar Days for Mobilization and Demobilization, 33 Calendar Days for the Base Work and 15 Calendar Days for Option A, for a total of 78 Calendar Days. There will be a price evaluation preference for certified Hubzone small bus iness concerns that comply with the requirements in the solicitation as stipulated in FAR 19.1307. This solicitation will be issued on or about 31 March 2004 and open on or about 30 Apr 2004. The solicitation will be posted on our website. Any intereste d bidders must register electronically.
