- Description
- Contact John Wolhaupter at 626-440-4048 for a copy of the solicitation. The U. S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals for landscape modification at the Van Nuys – Santa Clarita P&DC in Santa Clarita CA. The landscaping project will replace a majority of the existing landscaping which consists of lawn and shrubs; and replace them with more drought tolerant plant materials. Selective removal of existing trees will be required throughout the area. A majority of the lawn area is to be killed and replanted with a hydroseed mixture. Groupings of trees, shrubs, and accent boulders will be planted throughout the area. Plant material in the crib walls is to be sprayed with an herbicide, have the dead vegetation removed, leaving the root structure in place, and hydroseeded. Ground cover adjacent to the structure will consist of stabilized decomposed granite and plantings of shrubs for contrast. Modification of the existing irrigation system will be required to provide for the new landscaping. Postal operations at the facility are 24 hours per day, and access to the facility and parking areas is not to be blocked without prior approval. The work is to be completed in 120 days after notice to proceed. Estimated range is $700,000-$900,000. This is an owned facility. The proposal must contain the offeror’s overhead, profit, bonds, insurance, and all other contingencies. No allowance for such items will be made after contract award. The minority subcontracting goal for this contract will be 11%. Offers will not be publicly opened. All proposal information will remain confidential until award. This solicitation is being issued pursuant to the authority of the U. S. Postal Service Purchasing Manual, Issue 2 dated 1/31/02. A mandatory pre-proposal conference will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on March 17th at the site.
