This is NOT a presolicitation notice pursuant to FAR Part 5. This notice does not constitute an In vitation for Bid or Request for Proposal and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The government will not reimburse contractors for any costs incurred for their participation in this survey. The United States Army is conducting a marke t survey to determine the potential availability for improvement or growth of Remote Weapons Systems (RWS) to equip different platforms for full spectrum operations. The U.S. Army desires input (completion of questionnaires) regarding potential approaches for current capabilities and opportunities to modernize RWS. Of interest include comments about the potential for stabilization, auto tracking, light weight eye safe laser range finders (w/lead capability) IR pointer, improved system survivability and safe ty, Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) performance, remote controlled operations, far target location/designation, digital initiator exchange with FMCB2 and other ABS systems, weight reduction concepts. The U. S. Army desires a Platform Performance Demonstra tion of RWS capabilities on a Stryker vehicle and other Army vehicle platforms. The purpose of this demonstration is to assist the Army in refinement of RWS requirements and is not part of an Army acquisition action. Potential interested parties are invite d to participate in a Remote Weapon System (RWS) Platform Performance Demonstration at Ft. Benning, GA, 10-14 May 2004. The demonstration will be conducted under the auspices of the TRADOC Stryker/Bradley office. The purpose of this RWS Platform Performanc e Demonstration is to review current available technologies and future enhancements. The participants are encouraged to deliver their systems not later than 10 May 2004 to Fort Benning, GA. At this demonstration the U. S. Army intends for its subject matte r expert team of Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and engineers to assess candidates for potential future use. This assessment will focus on operational performance on a Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV) range firing (day and night at targets from 400-2500 meters), ease of operation, interface with the Stryker ICV on board system, total weight of the system, transportability of system on a Stryker ICV, and ease of maintenance. Interested parties are invited to provide information of candidate equip ment in advance but not in lieu of Ft. Benning demonstration. At the time of the demonstration, written documentation to support the ability to meet the requirement, or a detailed description of system modifications that are contemplated to assure requirem ents can be achieved, must be provided. Product growth/improvement/maturation/support/producibility/technology insertions plans may also be submitted. All documentation must be in English. Documentation provided will not be returned. The demonstration is a t no expense to the U. S. Government. Participants will have an opportunity to conduct engineer survey of the Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle for integration on 17 Mar and 31 Mar 2004.
