- Department of the Army, Defense Contracting Command-Washington, 5200 Army Pentagon, Washington, D.C. 20310-5200 intends to award a single source contract (IAW FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source) to SAIC, 1710 SAIC Drive, McLean, VA 22102, for a follow-on contract entitled 'Net Assessments and Future Defense Planning'. Net assessments thorough comparative studies of the competitive environment have long proven to be immensely valuable to senior officials within the Department of Defense. Struc tured to take a long-term view, assessments have played a large role in defense management by revealing emerging problems and opportunities for top managers to improve the overall position of the United States in the long-term competition. Yet, as the com petitive environment has changed with the emergence of the United States as the world's sole superpower, the Department of Defense requires the services of a qualified contractor to assess past and future defense planning net assessments. The period of pe rformance of this contract will be for six (6) months with one six (6) month option. No RFP will be available for competitive proposals.
