Description
THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE. The Naval Air Warfare Center Lakehurst is seeking potential sources, industry comments, and product information for a portable fuel quantity test set to be used in support of numerous aircraft types in the Navy and Marine Corp fleet. NAVAIR is pursuing the possibility of procuring a commercial off the shelf (COTS) or common non-developmental item (NDI) that meets military requirements. The Fuel Quantity Test Set shall and be capable of testing aircraft AC and DC capacitive fuel systems. The test set shall be battery operated and capable of operating from 60 or 400 Hz 115 VAC, 50 Hz 220VAC, & 28 VDC power sources. It must be single man portable (<20 Kg) and rugged for operating on the flight deck of a ship or flightline of land-based facilities during testing & troubleshooting of Naval and Marine Corp aircraft. Information is requested on the test set's capability to perform the following: On-board aircraft fuel quantity system check, Sensor probe check, Tank unit capacitance measurement, Compensator capacitance measurement, Ability to simulate capacitances, Tank unit and compensator insulation resistance measurement, Fuel quantity indicator adjustment, & BIT Self test and adjustment. Information is requested on what, if any, cost effective modifications (or suggestions) are necessary to COTS/NDI units to meet military environmental requirements. Information is also requested on COTS/NDI items ability, or modifications necessary, to meet requirements of MIL-STD-810 for functional shock, humidity, vibration, transit drop, water resistance, salt fog, solar radiation, explosive atmosphere, and expected operating temperature ranges are -28C to +55C and non-operating -40C to +70C. Mechanical Random vibration IAW MIL-STD-785, Task 301 & Thermal cycling IAW MIL-STD-785, Task 301. In addition, the unit must meet EMI requirements of MIL-STD 461D, and shall perform within specification in its intended operational configurations when subjected to the electromagnetic environments of MIL?HDBK?235?1A (NAVY) Table II, Flight Deck Aircraft Carrier. The equipment shall also meet all EMI requirements defined by MIL-STD-461D CE102, CS114, RE101, and RS103 for surface ships when tested in accordance with the procedures of MIL-STD-462. Please provide descriptive literature such as commercial pamphlets, operating and maintenance manuals or any other documentation that would describe a unit or system to meet the above requirements.
