Description
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), operated by the University of California for the Department of Energy (DOE), is preparing a solicitation to provide design-build services: 1. Design and Construct approximately 8.7 miles of overhead 115 KV transmission line from the Western Technical Area (WTA) Substation located at Los Alamos National Laboratory Technical Area TA-06 and terminating at a new Southern Technical Area (STA) 115KV Switchyard at TA-71. 2. Design and Construct one 300 ft x 330 ft fenced 115 kV switchyard consisting of a three breaker and vertical switches, rectangular ring bus configuration with tie-in sections for three incoming 115 kV overhead lines. The Design - Build contractor and its subcontractors are responsible for the design and construction of the facility and utilities in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Design – Build contract documents. This procurement will use a two-step process – Step one will be Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Step two will a Request for Proposals (RFP). Only those firms selected in step one will be sent the RFP. The project magnitude is estimated over $10 million. The award of this contract is contingent upon the receipt of funding from the Department of Energy. Capital funding for this project is expected to become available by October 2004. The University intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract to the successful design-build firm that best meets the Laboratory’s goals and objectives contingent upon availability and approval of these funds.
