NOUN: Metallic Seal; NSN: 2840-01-442-9118NZ; P/N: 4083668-01; QTY: 2335; U/I: Each; DELIVERY: Oct 2004 to Tinker AFB OK; APPLICABLE TO: F100PW229 Engine; SIZE/DIMENSIONS: Approximately 4.87" X 11.03" X 0.25"; PREDOMINANT MATERIAL: Nickel Alloy; FORM/FIT/FUNCTION: Balance seals limit the amount of exhaust gas pressure escaping between the nozzle segments. The seals also have a heat resistant coating that protect the balance segments from high exhaust gas temperatures. Anticipated Solicitation Issue Date: 20 October 2003. Anticipated Award Date: 30 November 2003. No telephone solicitaton requests well be accepted. To be eligible for contract award, offerors must be approved sources. The Government is not required to delay contract award to review pending Source Approval Requests (SARs). Therefore, offerors are encouraged to submit SARs as soon as possible. If the Government has not completed review of the SAR when the contract is awarded, the SAR will be retained and the source will be reviewed for possible Source Approval for future awards. Qualification Requirements (QR) are available and will be included in the solicitation. The award is expected to be made to the approved sources: Pratt & Whitney (52661) or Dynamic Gunver Technologies (1J4P3). NOTE: An ombudsman has been appointed to hear concerns from offerors or potential offerors during the proposal development phase of this acquisition. The purpose of the ombudsman is not to diminish the authority of the Program Manager or Contracting Officer, but to communicate contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations to the appropriate Government personnel. When requested, the ombudsman will maintain strict confidentiality as to source of the concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the evaluation of proposals or in the source selection process.
