Description
The NASA Langley Research Center is hereby soliciting information from potential sources for the development of high temperature multi layer insulation (HT-MLI) for multi-use in high-speed atmospheric flight and re-entry. The HT-MLI would be located below a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) thermal protection system (TPS) and would be required to operate up to 3000?F. The HT-MLI will be required to protect a support structure that cannot exceed 300?F. The HT-MLI should be a light weight, low effective thermal conductivity system. Oxidation resistance of the MLI must be considered due to the multi-use requirement. The developed HT-MLI must be capable of transition to flight vehicles. Firms having the required specialized capabilities in part or in all of the above requirements should submit a capability statement of 7 pages or less documenting their ability and past experience in performing similar efforts as described above. Work cited as past experience shall contain a brief technical description, dates and a reference with a current phone number. In addition, please include the following: name and address of your firm; average annual revenue for past 3 years; size of business (number of employees); affiliate information: parent company, joint venture partners, potential teaming partners, prime contractor (if potential sub) or subcontractors (if potential prime); list of relevant work performed in the past five years, contract numbers, technical description, contract type, dollar value of each procurement; and point of contact - address and phone number. All statements must be in font size 12 and are due by March 29, 2004. All responses shall be submitted to NASA Langley Research Center, Attn: Kamran Daryabeigi, Mail Stop 396, Hampton, VA 23681 or by email k.daryabeigi@larc.nasa.gov. Technical questions should be directed to Kamran Daryabeigi at (757) 864-4745 or k.daryabeigi@larc.nasa.gov. Procurement related questions should be directed to: Tom Weih at 757-864-3878 or email: Carl.T.Weih@nasa.gov. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation.
