- The VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System on behalf of VISN 16 intends to award a sole source contract, under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1 to a firm by the name of MD Consult for an on-line subscription access for VISN 16 site(s): Alexandria VA Medical Center, Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Fayetteville VA Medical Center, G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, Houston VA Medical Center, Muskogee VA Medical Center, Oklahoma City VA Medical Center, Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, and VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. The Online Reference System contains a proprietary search and retrieval system that searches approximately 40 reference manuals, 35 of which are unique to MD Consult, and not available through any other online reference services. They include: Medical Reference Texts: Full-text access is provided for over 42 leading medical reference texts. Journals: The service provides access to the full-text articles of more than 50 clinical journals and over 45 Year Book titles, along with simultaneous searching of MEDLINE, AIDSLINE, HealthSTAR, and CANCERLIT databases. Practice Guidelines: Provides consolidated access to full-text clinical practice guidelines from over 50 organizations. Patient Education: More than 3,000 customizable patient education handouts. Drug Information: Mosby's GenRx drug database integrated into the larger service. Today in Medicine: Daily medical news stories substantially edited and embellished by MD Consult. What Your Patients are Reading: A weekly summary of medical stories in the lay press, designed to assist clinicians in preparing for patient questions. In This Week's Journals: The current table of contents from influential medical journals, with article summaries. Clinical Topic Tours: Weekly reviews of significant clinical subjects including extensive bibliographies and online full-text content. CME Center: Over 300 Category 1 CME modules. SEARCHING INTERFACE: Search every area of MD Consult Simultaneously to retrieve answers from over $30,000 worth of resources. Qualified businesses other than the sole source company (MD Consult) must identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by submitting their capabilities in writing to the Contracting Officer on March 18, 2004 by 3:00 p.m. Central Time. Fax submission will be allowed. All qualified offerors shall be considered. If no responses are received by March 18, 2004, the VA shall proceed with negotiations with MD Consult.
