Description
The government is issuing this Sources Sought Announcement as part of a market survey for the 30mm x 173mm ammunition cartridges capable of being fired from the 30mm MK 44 Automatic Gun. The requirement is for a basic quantity of 5,000/ea rounds (rds) with one option of 10,000/ea rds and another option for 15,000/ea rds. The government will require of the basic contract quantity as follows: 500 rounds within four months of order with delivery of the remainder within 12 months after the effective date of the contract. The options will require deliveries commencing 12 months after date of option exercise. The ammunition must be capable of entering the water at an angle of 60 degrees from the horizontal and continue in water to a range of 75 feet. The velocity after traveling 75 feet in water must be greater than 3000 feet per second. The kinetic energy of the projectile after 75 feet of water travel must be greater than 46,000 foot-pounds. The ammunition must be suitable for naval rotary wing applications and meet safety requirements needed for U.S. Navy Weapon Systems Explosive Safety Review Board (WSESRB) certification. The ammunition will be required to meet standard U.S. Navy safety and performance cartridge characteristics (i.e. chamber pressure, primer sensitivity, action time, cartridge integrity, etc.). The government is seeking responses from any vendor capable of meeting the required delivery schedule this CY who has past performance with the required round.
