Description

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Albany, California has a requirement for one (1) hybrid system with triple quadrupole capabilities combined with linear ion trap MS/MS technology in one instrument for sensitive detection of prions; analysis of proteins and peptides. This high sensitivity hybrid triple quadrupole/linear trap MS/MS system must provide capability for quantitation as well as qualitative characterization; include an enhanced performance hybrid LC/MS/MS system with quadrupole mass filter and high-pressure quadrupole LINAC collision cell used for high efficiency MS-MS fragmentation; an APCI source, nanoflow source, Windows NT data acquisition workstation, flat panel 18” monitor, national instruments GPIB communications kit, DIGI serial port expansion card, and data acquisition and analysis software. The second mass analyzer is a gold-plated metal alloy quadrupole mass filter/linear ion trap. One Applied Biosystems Q Trap Pro LC/MS/MS system is available for trade-in towards this upgraded unit. The hybrid system with triple quadrupole capabilities and linear ion trap technology meets our research requirements and the Government intends to negotiate with the only known responsible source, Applied Biosystems.
