Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspTHERE IS NO SOLICITATION AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe North Cascades National Park Complex is researching the availability of sources for the:&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp(1)&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsprehabilitation of two suspension trail bridges,&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspand (2) the replacement of a third suspension trail bridge.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspIt is anticipated that two separate solicitations will be issued for which award will be made.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAll three trail bridges are located within Ross Lake National Recreation Area of North Cascades National Park Complex in northern Washington State.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe rehabilitation work of the first two bridges consists of replacement of the existing timber towers with engineered steel towers and involves the erection of temporary towers, mainlines, and suspenders; replacement of existing timber suspender needle beams with steel beams engineered to carry the design loads; and replacement of the existing sway system with steel angle iron sway braces bolted to the new steel suspender needle beams.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAccess is by boat, hiking, or horseback riding.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspBoat access from the south end of Ross Lake at&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspRoss Dam requires coordination with Seattle City Light for barging services as there is no direct road access to the sites.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAccess by boat can also be gained from the north end of Ross Lake by traveling through British Columbia, Canada and back to the US border at Hozomeen.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAccess via hiking or horseback riding is at a distance of up to 16 miles.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe third suspension trail bridge requires replacement of a bridge that was washed away during a flood event in the fall of 2003.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAccess is by hiking or horseback riding.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe trailhead is located at MP 130, State Route 20, at the Colonial Creek Campground South Unit.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe distance to the site is about 1-mile from the trailhead.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspAll trails for both solicitations are considered to be in remote backcountry areas.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspSmall gas powered hand tools and portable electrical power generators for hand tools are allowed.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspIt is expected that some materials will need to be flown in by helicopter.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspProposed contractors shall have at least 5-years experience in repair or construction of suspension bridge structures located in remote locations.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspContractors will be asked to provide information on a minimum of three bridge structures of a similar construction type which have been in service for at least 3-years.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe estimated value of the rehabilitation projects is under $250,000.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspThe estimated value of the replacement project is between $250,000 and $500,000.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspInterested Contractors are asked to submit a brief statement detailing experience and qualifications to perform the work.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspInterested Contractors are also asked to state whether they are qualifying 8a firms, HubZone firms, small or large business firms.&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbspSubmit information to Contracting Officer, Barbara A.
