Description

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) intends to acquire from Ultra Electronics Ocean Systems of Braintree, Massachusetts 10 radio transmitter T-1630-SRT-SEPIRB buoys, PN 120624-5. It would be prohibitively expensive for the Government to procure the SEPIRB buoy from a source other than Ultra Electronics Ocean Systems, Inc. This is because an entirely new buoy package would have to be designed and built to meet the extensive requirements specified in the government?s SEPIRB functional requirements document. The device would then have to pass all first article testing, which would include an at sea test aboard a submarine. It would have to be pass the 9310 battery safety testing and would have to receive Type Approval from the COSPAS/SARSAT Secretariat for use as an emergency beacon. Delivery is required 4 months after award of contract. A firm-fixed-price contract under FAR Part 13 procedures is anticipated. No formal solicitation will be issued. NAICS: 334511.
