- Description
- The National Institute of Diabetes, and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition (DDDN), has a requirement for the continuation of the Liver Tissue and Cell Distribution System (LTCDS), previously known as the Liver Tissue Procurement and Distribution System (LTPADS), as a network of geographically distributed Tissue Collection Centers. This project is designed to procure, preserve and deliver human liver tissue and cells, suitable for cellular and molecular studies, from a variety of end-stage liver diseases to researchers. These tissues and cells would otherwise be discarded or be unobtainable to most researchers who are not a part of a liver transplant center. The LTCDS is also designed to make normal liver tissue and cells available for research when such livers are found to be unsuitable for liver transplantation. The Requests for Proposals, RFP No. NIH-NIDDK-04-02, will be issued on or about March 1, 2004 with a closing date of on or about July 1, 2004. Requests for the RFP must be in writing to the Contracting Officer cited above, and must cite the referenced RFP number. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the agency. The Government is committed to award contract pursuant to this announcement.
