Description
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Charleston (SSCC) is hereby issuing a Sources Sought Notice/Request For Information (RFI) announcement seeking input for a mission deployable Airfield Lighting System (ALS) to meet the needs of deployed Government personnel et al., with respect to Medical Evacuations (MEDEVAC) from the South Pole Station in Antarctica during the winter over period. This system must be capable of sustained exposure (up to 72 hours) at temperatures of ? 75 Celsius in a ?ready for operation? status and capable of operating for the duration of the flight operation (up to four hours) after sustained exposure. The ALS needed for these MEDEVAC missions must meet Visual Flight Rules (VFR) criteria during a night operation with respect to the DeHavilland DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft (even though the skiway at the station is 12,000-feet in length). In practical terms, deployment of the ALS shall require no greater than 8 hours for three people wearing Extremely Cold Weather (ECW) gear, without the use of heavy equipment. Once deployed the ALS shall require no greater than 30 minutes for three people wearing ECW gear to initiate and complete the operational cycle. In order to initiate an exchange of information, SSCC requests that interested parties submit any or both of the following: (1) an up to 10 page concept paper, with conceptual sketches if applicable, that identifies potential existing solutions or (2) Product brochures or marketing materials outlining specifications/capabilities. As part of your response, please include information on delivery/lead time, warranty terms and conditions, and whether your product is commercially available, or on the General Services Administration Federal Supply System (GSA). Sources having equipment that meets or exceeds the above capabilities are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, specifications, with estimated pricing to Ruth Goddard at telephone number (843) 218-4114; fax (843) 218-5917; or email: Ruth.Goddard@navy.mil to arrive NLT 15Feb04. This announcement is only an expression of interest for planning purposes only. Future requirements and procurements are uncertain. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on this announcement. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement.
