- Description
- The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 is interested in acquiring market information for a signature suppression device for the M107 Long Range Sniper Rifle system. The key functional characteristics of this device will be to suppress the visual flash, sound, and muzzle blast (blowback) signature, which occurs during the firing of the weapon. The M107 is a commercial semi-automatic rifle, chambered for a .50 cal BMG ammunition with rail mounted optical sights and an integral backup iron sight. The M107 has a 29-inch long barrel with a detachable muzzle brake. The nominal muzzle velocity is 2,800 feet per second and the maximum effective range of the weapon is 2,000 yards, with a standard 660-grain bullet. This device cannot increase recoil, have an adverse effect on safety, nor degrade the accuracy of the weapon. It should have a service life of at least 50,000 rounds. Respondents should also include information about any modification required to mount or attach their particular device. Other important factors are reliability, maintenance, weight, length, and cost. A minimum production capability of 90 per month is desired, with a surge capacity up to 135 per month.
