- Description
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a new Draft Solicitation for performing environmental remediation services to close the Hanford Site River Corridor, approximately 210 square miles of the Hanford Site along the Columbia River in Southeastern Washington. The new Draft Solicitation is issued to support exchanges with industry. In March 2002, DOE issued Solicitation DE-RP06-02RL14300 for only a portion of the scope required to close the Hanford Site River Corridor. Following release of the Solicitation DE-RP06-02RL14300, DOE evaluated its current programmatic needs. The new Draft Solicitation now provides for full closure of the Hanford Site River Corridor using a performance-based approach that provides the flexibility and incentives to achieve innovative, safe, efficient, and measurable results. DOE believes that cancellation of Solicitation DE-RP06-02RL14300 is appropriate given the substantial change in programmatic requirements. DOE will make a decision regarding cancellation of Solicitation DE-RP06-02RL14300 following planned exchanges with industry. There will be two opportunities for exchanges with industry. The first opportunity is for interested industry sources to provide written comments on the new Draft Solicitation. Industry comments are requested by January 17, 2004. The second opportunity is for interested industry sources to participate in one-on-one meetings to be held in Richland, Washington during the week of January 13, 2004. Interested firms are strongly encouraged to participate in these exchanges with industry.
