- This solicitation is being offered to encourage interested parties to develop a dispersal system mounted on a fixed-wing aircraft to apply Disrupt II (pheromone flakes) using Gelva 2333 as a sticker. Current technology for applying the pheromone flakes and sticker is the Hercon pod mounted on fixed-wing aircraft (Air Tractor). Due to availability of the components and the complexity of the pods, there is a need to develop flake dispersal systems using technology that is more readily available. The dispersal system must be designed, built and mounted on fixed-wing aircraft and meet the criteria i.e. calibration and characterization, before it will be considered for use under this solicitation. Ten thousand acres, referred to as test blocks, have been set aside by the Government for the express purpose of field testing a fixed-wing dispersal system that shows promise but lacks adequate field testing for use in operational programs. Potential test blocks are located in Wisconsin. Application is expected to occur sometime between mid June to early July 2004. Only one application of the mating disruptant will be applied at rates from 34 grams to 170 grams per acre with a calibrated rate of sticker.
