- Description
- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service invites Requests for Quotes for the cutting of all trees and woody vegetation and lop and scatter the slash using ONLY hand-held power equipment on approximately 900 acres at Chesapeake Marshlands NWR Complex, Cambridge, MD. The objective is to reduce the current pine stocking to improve the growth of the remaining trees and reduce the hazardous fuel loading. All the beech and oak trees shall be identified and saved, all other hard woods will be removed. The tracts are flat, low lying land with pockets of standing water and thick stands of understory vegetation with heavy wet soils. The contractor shall fell, cut and scatter the trees and woody vegetation so that the wood, logs, slash or other woody debris remain on-site, and are evenly distributed. The work shall be accomplished using hand-held power equipment only. Wheeled or tracked equipment shall not be used to accomplish this work. Work shall be completed within one year of the notice to proceed. A PRE-BID SITE VISIT is recommended to satisfy contractors as to all local conditions. The pre-bid visit is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2004. Interested parties shall meet at the Chesapeake Marshlands NWR Complex Office, 2145 Key Wallace Drive, Cambridge, Maryland. Point of contact is Gerald Vickers at 410-228-2692 ext 123. The NAICS Code for this project is 115310. This is asmall business set-aside procurement. The size standard for the project is $12 million. All requests for the RFQ package must be submitted in writing to the address above to the attention of Marsha Browning. Requests may be faxed to 413-253-8450. Requests must include the name of the company, address, telephone and FAX numbers and a point of contact and should reference the RFQ number 501814Q002. Issue date will be o/a Dec. 29, 2003. It is expected that an award will be made the first week in February.
