- NAICS Code: 334516 The U.S. EPA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Big Sky Laser/Quantel (Bozeman, MT) under authority of FAR Part 6.302-1 for the purchase of a Brilliant Pulsed Nd;YAG Laser System with high energy THG package and rack mounted power supply. EPA has determined that the Brilliant Laser system is the only known laser on the market that has a high enough power rating (355 nm) that can supply energy at a specific wavelength to allow for ionization functions. Moreover, its compact size and rack mounted power supply are essential because the instrument will be used in field studies, which requires mobility. This notice is not a request for quotations. EPA source research indicates Big Sky Laser is the only source able to satisfy the Government's requirements. However, any firm believing itself capable of meeting EPA requirements may submit technical documentation to establish the potential of offering an equivalent laser. Such documentation must be submitted within 15 days of electronic posting of this notice. A determination not to compete the proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement or to proceed on a sole source basis. This acquisition is being processed under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The applicable NAICS code is 334516. The anticipated award date is 12/20/03.
