- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration intends to negotiate and award a sole source contract each to (1) Steven M. Karamihas, the developer and patent applicant for localized roughness software with grinding simulation (?bump finder?) and (2) The Transtec Group, Inc., the current developers and code owners of the Profile Viewer and Analyzer Software (ProVAL). The objectives of the contracts are to: (1) deliver existing localized roughness software with grinding simulation with a fully user customizable analysis option that allows incorporation into ProVAL; (2) integrate localized roughness software into ProVAL and implement other updates to ProVAL as necessary; (3) demonstrate the software to FHWA and designated state agencies; (4) provide implementation guidelines with basic specification language that an agency could use/modify the software for its own Ride Quality smoothness specifications where ?bump finding? is required; (5) train representatives from FHWA and designated state agencies, complete with ?transportable? training package, in the use and application of the software; (6) draft a field users guide for incorporation into ProVal user manual; (7) update the ProVAL user manual to incorporate the bump finder information and other updates as necessary; (8) provide any modifications to the field users guide that are recommended by the pooled fund participants; and (9) provide software deployment and implementation support for ProVAL updates to include distribution of software updates and user technical support. Estimated period of performance is 12 ? 18 months. Note 22 applies.
