- Description
- Seeking a motor vehicle operator with Commercial Driver's License (CDL), (B License) with"P" (Passenger and Air Brake endorsement) to transport elderly or disabled residents. Operator must be familiar with all safety rules, regulations and traffic sign. Drives carefully to avoid hazardous conditions and to prevent discomfort or injury to passengers and damage to the vehicle. Must be familiar with the safe operations of a motor vehicle with handicapped or elderly passengers. Types of vehilces include: 20-24 passenger shuttle bus; 22 passenger/seven wheelchair shuttle bus; 12 passenger/two wheelchair shuttle bus; Forty-four passenger coach bus; and on occassion may be called upon to operate the Home's 25 cubic yard trash truck. Skill in handling the controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving the vehicles is a must. Must be sensitive to the needs of typical elderly and handicapped population. Must know the heigh, width, length, and weight of the vehicle in order to judge overhead an side clearances, turning radius, braking distance, and the safest distance to be maintained from a preceding vehicle. Knowldege of safety rules and regulations and other posted rules for moving vehicles is necessary.
