Description
17. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are not being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number for this acquisition is being issued as a Notice of Intent (NOI4008). The incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2001-14. The Associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 325414, which has a size standard of 500; small business concern. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases intends to procure on a sole source basis using Simplified Acquisition Procedures Fetal Bovine Serum of USA Origin, qty. of 152 (500 ml) bottles from Atlanta Biologicals, Inc. This new lot of fetal bovine serum (FBS) has been tested in tissue culture in our laboratory. It has been proven to support production of proteins and viruses that are utilized in our current protocols. We found it?s quality to be equivalent to our previous lot from Atlanta Biologicals, Inc. It is imperative that we utilize lots of FBS with identical consistency and quality in order to maintain reagent standards to insure experimental results are not influenced by other variables. Any other sources of FBS will require extensive testing and delay our production of materials of Vaccine development and trials. The purpose of this requirement is to understand the role of cell surface molecules of the lymphocyte populations in T-cell activation, suppression and cell interaction. Project Title: Analysis of Lymphocyte subpopulation in mice and Immune modulation of autoimmune diseases in mice. Anticipated Date & Place of delivery November 11, 2003; NIH/NIAID, Maryland 20892; FOB-D.
