- Description
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Weather Service (NWS) is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) in order to find companies that can support the following requirement. The NWS is researching for companies who can provide information on Internet Mapping Services (IMS) technology based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that conform to OpenGIS Specifications. Specifically, NWS is seeking information on IMS technologies that run on the Linux operating system, can support infrastructures to handle millions of web requests (hits) per day, and support industry standard formats like shapefiles. The system should be able to support interactions with ralational databases, including open source databases like MySQL and PostgresSQL. If you are a company that can support the NWS's needs stated in this RFI, request you submit the support documentation electronically to Robert.Bunge@noaa.gov and copy the primary point of contact in this RFI.
