- Description
- The Government intends to award on a full and open competition basis the requirement for the purchase of a pulsed femtosecond (fs) laser to expand our current capabilities in manufacturing research. It will be used to explore behavior of early stage energetic reactions, possible new energetic systems and support of future biomedical and material science and engineering research. The system must allow for future expanion and begin with the purchase of two components. The first is a base unit that provides a pulse of less than 100 fs with a peak power of approximately 0.1 TeraWatt. The second component should expand the tunable wavelength response to the 189nm - 2600nm range. An example would be a 0.1 TeraWatt peak power that would be coupled to an appropriate tuning system such as titanium doped sapphire. Future additions will include an amplifier to boost peak power to greater than 1 TerraWatt.
