- Description
- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing anticipates a requirement for a security thread with an optically variable feature suitable for incorporation into US currency paper in a windowed fashion; that is, the thread will weave into and out of the paper on one side allowing the optically variable feature to be viewed. The optical feature shall be novel and difficult to duplicate and simulate and act as an aid for visual authentication of a banknote. The Bureau anticipates issuing a full and open indefinite delivery type solicitation for production quantities in December 2003. Offerors will be required to submit material samples of production ready material for Bureau testing and evaluation with their proposals. Therefore, potential offerors should complete all developmental efforts prior to the submission of proposals. A draft specification is hereby provided for industry comment.
