- Description
- PURPOSE. The purpose of this solicitation is to obtain the services of an experienced race car building company to manufacture and install front and rear passengers protection roll bars in six unarmored, 2000 Chevrolet Suburbans, and four armored Suburbans. SCOPE OF WORK. The Contractor shall provide all materials and personnel required for the manufacture and installation of the roll bars. Installation of roll bars in all ten vehicles shall be completed within 60 work days from the award of this contract. The Contractor must be completely familiar with the roll bar specifications as described in the official 2003 National Hot Rod Association NHRA, rulebook. The Contractor shall be responsible for transporting the vehicles to and from their place of business. The Contractor shall be held liable for any damage to the vehicles while in his possession. SPECIFICATIONS: A. Roll bars must protect the driver and front passenger and be within 6-inches of the rear, or side, and at least 2-inches above the driver?s and front passenger?s head while in normal seated position. When fully loaded, six Suburbans will weight approx. 6,000 lbs. each, and four armored Suburbans may weigh in excess of 10,000 each. The roll bar shall extend the width of the passenger compartment from door post to door post. Roll bar shall be attached to the floorboard of the car in accordance with the NHRA rulebook minimum standards. B. The roll bar shall be braced to prevent forward, lateral, or reverse collapse. The braces shall protect the rear seat passengers, shall extend towards the rear of the car, perpendicular to the roll bar, over the rear door openings (so that passengers can easily enter and exit the car), then extend down through the deck behind the rear seat and attached. Which shall be in accordance with the NHRA rulebook minimum standards to the floorboard. The top bar shall be affixed with a horizontal, 45 degree, diagonal brace. Braces shall be attached to the roll bar using a sleeve and 7/16-inch bolts. C. Materials used for the roll bars and braces shall be Drawn on Manual (DOM) high tolerance tubing with a minimum outside diameter and wall thickness which exceeds the minimum requirements to support the weight of the Suburban SUV. Roll bars and braces shall be padded with foam roll bar padding all locations where passenger?s bodies and helmets may come into contact. Padding shall have a minimum of ?-in compression. D. Roll bars and braces shall be installed in such a manner that the interior of the car i.e., headliner, upholstery, seats, carpets, etc. are not destroyed or damaged beyond repair and the entire roll bar system can be easily removed, if necessary. E. Contractor shall certify in writing a written proposal that the roll bars will provide the roll over safety protection required and a cost proposal of the preformance of work in this Statement of Work.
