Description
This announcement is a Request for Information (RFI) for availability of maintenance and repair support of U.S.- manufactured vehicles procured in support of foreign assistance programs worldwide. The Government is interested in industry ability to provide support for U.S-manufactured vehicles procured for support of foreign assistance programs in countries such as Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Laos, etc. Background: Pursuant to its authorities under the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, The Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), U.S. Department of State provides support to foreign governments? counter-narcotics and law enforcement programs throughout the world. Part of this support entails provision of vehicles for use by host country and U.S. personnel serving overseas. INL endeavors to procure vehicles manufactured in the United States whenever possible but the availability of parts and maintenance support for such vehicles is problematic in many areas of the countries in which they are operated . Locally available maintenance support is critical to the effectiveness of these program resources. INL is requesting information from U.S. automakers concerning the availability of maintenance support for their products overseas. Industry is invited to send comments/information via email to Mary Pat Hayes-Crow at hayes-crowmp2@state.gov or Timothy E. Henderson at hendersonte@state.gov. INL would like to receive comments by 4 pm ET October 10, 2003.
