- GigaPoP Membership Announcements The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), Silver Spring, Md., intends to issue a Purchase Order to the North Texas GigaPoP to provide connectivity for the NWS Southern Region Headquarters to the Internet2 Abilene network. Internet2 is a project of the University Consortium for Advanced Internet Development (UCAID), and Abilene is the high performance, next generation testbed and research network created, managed, and operated by Internet2. In the Fort Worth, Texas area, Abilene connections are made exclusively through the North Texas GigaPoP, which is designated as the regional facility. Vendors who believe that they can meet this requirement are required to submit in writing an affirmative response demonstrating they can meet the Governments requirements. All written responses must include a written narrative statement of capability, including detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet the above requirement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Affirmative responses must be received no later than 15 calendar days after the posting of this notice. POC: Maxine R.
