Description
NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Invitation for Bids (IFB) for PROJECT TITLE: Replace Roofs, Various Locations (Buildings 4249, 4476, 4605, 4650, 4707 and 4752) PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The work consists of removal of existing gravel ballast and installation of an engineered retrofit metal frame with metal roof panels. Some of the buildings will be re-roofed with SBS modified bitumen roofing where it is not possible to install a retrofit metal roof system. Included in the work will be the relocation of existing roof top mechanical ventilators, air conditioning systems and electrical systems. Some of the buildings will have new metal siding installed over the existing transite panels. New access ladders and scuttles will be provided. The design of the retrofit metal roofing system must be stamped by a structural engineer registered in the state of Alabama. The order of magnitude for the procurement is $1,000,000- $5,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 365 calendar days after notice to proceed. All request for IFB packages must be in writing and contain the complete Company Name, Address, Phone/Fax numbers. Request for IFB packages should be made to the below listed personnel. Request for IFB packages will not be accepted less than 10 days prior to bid opening. Safety records of the prime contractor and subcontractor will be a consideration at award time. The prime contractor must have an EXPERIENCED MODIFICATION RATING (EMR) of 1.0 or less and proof included within the bid package.The prime subcontractors EMR rating shall be no more than 1.1. Contract award is contingent upon the availability of funds. This procurement is full and open competition. The NAICS Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 233310 and 28.5M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about September 11,2003 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about October 15,2003. The firm date for receipt of bids or proposals will be stated in the IFB. Drawings will be available from John Busbey at (256) 544-0896. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B".
