- NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Invitation for Bids (IFB) for PROJECT TITLE: Replace and Upgrade Control Systems for Bridge Cranes (Site-Wide) Phase II PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The work to be performed under this project consists of providing the labor, equipment, and materials to modify and upgrade cranes in Buildings 4707 and 4619. It is the intent of this project to remove and replace the primary components, subassemblies, and control systems of each crane. In most cases, the crane will be "stripped" down to the structural bridge, then rebuilt and repainted according to the specifications. The order of magnitude for the procurement is $1,000,000- $5,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 300 calendar days after notice to proceed. All request for IFB packages must be in writing and contain the complete Company Name, Address, Phone/Fax numbers. Request for IFB packages should be made to the below listed personnel. Request for IFB packages will not be accepted less than 10 days prior to bid opening. Safety records of the prime contractor and subcontractor will be a consideration at award time. The prime contractor must have an EXPERIENCED MODIFICATION RATING (EMR) of 1.0 or less and proof included within the bid package.The prime subcontractors EMR rating shall be no more than 1.1. Contract award is contingent upon the availability of funds. This procurement is full and open competition. The NAICS Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 233310 and 28.5M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about September 12,2003 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about October 16,2003. The firm date for receipt of bids or proposals will be stated in the IFB. Drawings will be available from John Busbey at (256) 544-0896. All responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B".
