- Description
- The U.S. Department of State (DoS), Office of Acquisition, intends to exercise option period two under current contract with Motorola, Inc., Hanover, Maryland, for acquisition of various Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment and related accessories, and to add installation of equipment to the scope of the contract on a sole source basis, for the Department?s wireless communications involving diplomatic security, regional functions, UN General Assembly functions, and other purposes. The contract is an indefinite quantity/indefinite delivery type, with a period of performance of a base year and four option years. LMR equipment, which includes base stations, tone remotes, receivers, mobile radios, and handhelds, must have Mobile Data Communication (MDC) signaling, Digital Encryption Standard (DES XL) capability (approved and certified for use by NIST), UHF/VHF, and narrow bandwidth 12.5/25KHz programmable. The equipment must also be digital encryption standard capable with APCO 25/Common Air Interface protocols, and capable to be coupled with MDC signaling, to function as a very robust and reliable communications system for overseas and domestic wireless needs. Currently, the DoS has a wireless infrastructure built on MDC, DES XL, UHF/VHF, at narrow bandwidth 12.5/25KHz, manufactured by Motorola. No solicitation package will be issued.
