- 8/25/03-Addendum The next FORCEnet Architecture Conference will be held at SPAWAR Information Technology Center (SITC), New Orleans, LA on September 16-18, 2003. The Fn Architecture Working group briefings and meetings will be held in addition to briefings on Combat Support Systems. Please register with Jeff Moseley at SITC, 504-697-4901, jeff.moseley@navy.mil. Please provide the following information: NAME COMMAND/CODE/COMPANY PHONE EMAIL ADDRESS The conference is unclassified so no clearances are required. There will not be a conference fee nor refreshments served, so plan accordingly. Restaurants are nearby for lunch. The conference will be held at: Lindy C. Price is $69/night. Individual call-in is required. A free shuttle to the conference will be provided. Other major hotel chains are available in the area at the per diem rate of $89. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) is seeking industry comment on FORCEnet Architecture and Standards. Specifically, there are two (2) documents available for review and input. One is entitled "FORCEnet Architecture Vision." This document provides an architectural vision for the further definition and implementation of FORCEnet. The second document is entitled "FORCEnet Architecture & Standards." This document contains two (2) volumes (Volume I, Operational & Systems View and Volume II, Technical View). These documents describe the construct and framework for FORCEnet with top-level functional requirements/capabilities. Further iterations of these documents will be forthcoming as the FORCEnet architecture evolves. The existing draft documentation is considered FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY (FOUO) and is marked "Distribution D: Distribution authorized to the Department of Defense and U.S. DoD contractors only (Operational Use)." For this reason, the information is only available on a separate Virtual Program Office (VPO) website. Interested firms must provide the point of contact/person to be registered and demonstrate that they are currently qualified U.S. government contractors by providing a Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) Code as well as providing a current government contract number. Upon verification of status the interested party will be registered on the VPO and be provided access to the documentation. Responses are to be posted on the VPO. The Navy is holding a FORCEnet Architectures Workshop near Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Patuxent River, Maryland, on 22 - 24 July 2003 to continue the development of FORCEnet architecture and standards. It is anticipated that there will be additional working group meetings in the future.
