- Description
- This is Modification No. 1 to the combined synopsis/solicitation RG1-03-262 previously posted on FedBizOpps on August 8, 2003. NOTE: PROPOSALS ARE BEING REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN MODIFICATION TO THE SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. The purpose of this modification is to: (1) provide answers to the following questions received by the August 15, 2003, closing date for receipt of questions: QUESTION NO. 1: Is the DAW waste just paper, plastic and glass? And is it compacted? ANSWER NO. 1: The DAW waste is typical lab waste: paper, plastic, glass, aluminum weighing pans, rubber gloves, etc. The DAW also contains discarded soil samples. The DAW is not compacted. QUESTION NO. 2: Attachment 2. What size and type container and number are the water samples in? Same question for the soil samples. ANSWER NO. 2: The water samples are in plastic and glass bottles. The soil samples are in Marinelli beakers and plastic bottles and jars. QUESTION NO. 3: Attachment 4. What is the chemical make-up of the liquid radwaste? ANSWER NO. 3: The liquid radwaste consists of water samples with a pH range of from about 2 to 11. The water samples are contained in 1 one liter plastic bottle, 5 500 ml plastic bottles, and one plastic cubitainer. QUESTION NO. 4: Question 4. Attachment 5. Are all the liquid sources in aqueous or solvent? ANSWER NO. 4: The liquid sources are aqueous solutions. QUESTION NO. 5: All items in cpm need to be converted to dpm. QUESTION NO. 5: Four sources under NRC Tag No. 000971 were reported in cpm. The certificates for these sources were reviewed and the uCi quantity for each source is as follows. Serial No. 6786: 0.00114 uCi, Serial No. 6323: 0.0129 uCi, Serial No. 6188: 0.108 uCi, and Serial No. 6281: 1.214 uCi. QUESTION NO. 6: Could we have a better description of the beta light and the five light sources? ANSWER NO. 6: The five light sources contain H-3 gas, are about 1" square, and about as thick as a quarter. The beta light is a plastic source (the H-3 and phosphor are in the plastic) about ? inch square by 4 inch long; and (2) extend the closing date for receipt of proposals to September 2, 2003.
