- Description
- The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) intends to award a soles source contract to Mediatech, Inc. (Mediatech) to upgrade the classroom lecterns at the NRC Technical Training Center. The NRC Technical Training Center (TTC) has five classrooms, each of which contains a multimedia lectern that is used to control the presentation equipment available in the classroom. These lecterns were obtained in August, 1998, through a contract with MediaVisions, Inc., and were manufactured by Mediatech. The control interface for each lectern consists of a touchscreen connected to a small computer, which sends signals through a series of switches, adapters, and converters to the different pieces of presentation equipment. The control software is proprietary to Mediatech. The purpose of this procurement is to upgrade the hardware and software contained in the five TTC multimedia lecterns to take advantage of advances made in the control system software and hardware, and to simplify their configuration to provide higher reliability and reduce lifecycle maintenance costs. The upgrades must be fully compatible with the existing classroom presentation equipment. Competition of this requirement is not considered feasible since the control software package and any updates are copyrighted by the manufacturer and thus are unavailable for use by the NRC in a competitive environment. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all capability statements received within by September 12, 2003 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
