- Description
- NASA/GRC has a requirement for a variety of flat panels and 0.5" diameter tubes out of SiC/BN/SiC MI and CVI processing route. These are: 1. four 6" x 9" flat panels with additional CVI-SiC matrix, 2. seven 6" x 4.5" flat panles with two step CVI-SiC matrix, 3. one 6" x 4.5" flat panel with EPM MI matrix, 4. four 6" x 9" densified flat panels with two step CVI-SiC matrix, and 5. two 0.5" diameter x 9" long densified tubes with two step CVI-SiC matrix. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from GE Power Systems Composites, 400 Bellevue Rd, Newark, DE 19713. The fabrication of these panels is required to use a GE proprietary method and and can only be completed by GE. The authority for the sole source is FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
