Description
The Government intends to procure on a sole source basis, improvements/enhancements to the previously delivered and government accepted 30mm RAMICS prototype stabilized weapon system procured under N00164-01-D-0024 via modification to the aforementioned contract. The procurement will be a negotiated RFP with The Boeing Company (McDonnell Douglass Helicopter Company), Mesa, AZ. The work is to be accomplished on the existing government property accepted under the above noted contract. The work to be performed consists of: 1). Perform stress analysis of all load bearing items to support NAVAIR flight certification; 2). Procure and install a sealed base plate bearing; 3). Redesign the cradle for bolt together assembly, which will include reorientation of the MK44 gun and definition of the mounting surface for the laser collimator/video camera bracket, a definition of a recoil sens or; 4). Perform testing, analysis, and enhancement of turret drive mechanisms to improve mechanical frequency; 5). Perform analysis to remove excess friction in the azimuth drive; 6). Analyze data from acceptance testing data and perform shock and vibration testing to design/procure new resolvers suitable for EMD turret. Provide test hardware to allow recording of resolver outputs; and 7). Update the Interface Control Document to reflect the item used for test on the airborne platform. Numbered Note 22 applies.
