Description
The U. S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals from prequalified firms to design and construct a new Main Post Office of 23,285 square feet on a postal-owned site of 142,904 square feet located in La Quinta, CA. The new office is to have a retail store, administrative office space, restrooms, workroom, IRT's, post office box alcoves, BMEU, carrier loading platforms, mail platforms with 32" docks and one 50" dock, and a minimum of 137 parking spaces and maneuvering area as shown on the schematic site plans. The design/build entity shall take the conceptual documents to 100% completion in design contract documents, including architecture, civil, mechanical, structural and electrical engineering. The completed design shall conform to USPS standard design criteria, technical specifications, and USPS Inspection Service minimum design standards. Design submissions and reviews will be required at 50%, 70% and 100% level based on conceptual documents provided in this solicitation. Estimated cost range is $2,700,000-$3,350,000. Corporate Center, La Quinta CA. The design-build contractor will be responsible for completing the design documents while conforming to postal medium standard building design (MSBD) requirements. The work may include design and construction of off-site improvements, and utility improvements and connections. Coordination with local jurisdictions, application, payment and submission for plan check and permits will be required and is the responsibility of the design-build contractor. The work is to be completed in 300 days after notice to proceed. The proposal must contain the offeror's overhead, profit, bonds, insurance, and all other contingencies. No allowance for such items will be made after contract award. The minority subcontracting goal is 11%. Offers will not be publicly opened. All proposal information will remain confidential until award. Project approval with full funding is expected prior to contract award. The prequalified firms are: Berry Contractors Inc., P. O. No additions will be made to the list of prequalified firms for this project. Subcontractors must contact the prequalified firms for copies of the solicitation.
