- Description
- PREQUALIFICATION OPPORTUNITY ? Highway Transportation Services. The US Postal Service is interested in prequalifying suppliers who will compete for future highway transportation contracts for the movement of all classes of mail across the United States. The contracts are for transportation routes: (1) emergency, temporary, and regular service; (2) requiring tractor trailers and straight trucks; and (3) hired drivers. Only prequalified suppliers will be considered for many of these contracts. The contract opportunities will be advertised via a web-based marketplace. Therefore, prequalified suppliers must have access to the Internet. The Postal Service will evaluate suppliers who apply for prequalification based on the following criteria: 1. supplier eligibility based on the USPS policies and procedures, (2) financial capability, (3) past performance, and (4) supplier capability. The prequalification term will be from: 15-NOV-2003 to 18-NOV-2005. The Postal Service will have a unilateral option to extend the term for one year. The prequalification solicitation will be issued Monday, August 11, 2003, and the closing date for receipt of prequalification applications is 5:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 3, 2003. Only applications that contain complete submission of the required documentation by the closing date will be evaluated. A pre-proposal conference will be held in the Washington DC area on September 17, 2003.
